Cruden Bay, Scotland
Scotland, the home of golf. When people think of Scotland they immediately think of St. Andrews. While St. Andrews is a must see and must play, you might want to try this place that is getting some really good buzz.

Located on the north coast of Scotland, Cruden Bay is a sleepy little town that has a world class golf course. People have actually been playing golf in here since 1791. Quite a long time for sure. The links course that is now here was developed by Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews and opened in 1899.
Not a very long course at 6,400 yards but strategic thinking and shot making are required. If you've never experienced bunkers in Scotland then you are in for a surprise. They are not like they are here in the U.S. All I can say is you might need a step ladder to get in and out of them. Even though the bunkers can be punishing you will feel at ease with the beautiful layout that includes gorgeous views of rolling land, castles, and the majestic sea.
This course is regarded by many travelers as the best course to play while in Scotland. Golf Magazine even billed it as the "52nd best course" in the world!
Now that you are convinced to play at Cruden Bay you'll need a place to stay. That will be easy with a handful of bed and breakfasts or you can hang your hat at the Red House Hotel or the
St. Olaf Hotel
Whether its bumming around Ireland or reeking havoc on Scotland you will not go wrong with your European golf vacations by choosing either of these courses.
